We are thrilled to be working with a highly credible international law firm who are seeking an exceptional Head of Business Development to lead their global Energy & Natural Resources sector — one of the firm’s most strategic and high-profile priorities. Advising many of the world’s leading energy companies, financial institutions, and government and quasi-state entities, the sector spans complex transactional, regulatory, disputes and investigations work across multiple jurisdictions. This is a rare opportunity to shape the global commercial direction of a market-leading practice at the forefront of a rapidly evolving industry.
The role
Working closely with sector leadership, you will play a central role in setting and driving the global vision and strategy for Energy & Natural Resources. Acting as a trusted adviser and “right hand” to senior partners, you will help marshal the firm’s global resources to deepen client relationships, win new mandates, enhance the firm’s profile, and strengthen its position as a thought leader in the sector. This is a high-impact, high-visibility global role, leading a dedicated BD & Marketing team across regions and collaborating closely with colleagues across practices, offices, groups and sectors.
Key responsibilities
- Partner with sector leadership to define and deliver the global strategy, ensuring alignment across regions, sub-sectors and practices
- Actively contribute to sector governance, advising senior leadership and supporting the evolution of sector strategy within the firm
- Drive high-quality, insight-led business development activity, identifying cross-sector opportunities and global market trends
- Support and enhance strategic client relationship programmes, helping teams become trusted advisers to key clients
- Lead the development of global thought leadership and go-to-market campaigns aligned to sector priorities
- Use data, insight and analysis to challenge and support leaders in driving sustainable client growth
- Represent the sector internally and externally, including presentations, panels and leadership forums
- Lead, motivate and retain a high-performing global BD & Marketing team of five
About you
You will be a senior BD leader with deep experience in professional services (legal preferred), comfortable operating at partnership level in a global environment. You bring credibility, commercial judgement and the ability to influence and drive change in complex organisations.
You will have:
- Extensive senior-level business development and marketing experience in professional services
- A strong track record of delivering strategic change and high-impact BD initiatives
- Experience working within a global sector or industry-focused model
- The confidence to manage and influence multiple senior stakeholders
- Strong people leadership skills and a collaborative, inclusive approach
- A pragmatic, commercially astute mindset with excellent organisational and analytical capability
