We are seeking 2 reliable and enthusiastic Farm Assistants to support the day-to-day operation of our secondary school farm. This role is primarily to provide cover during staff absences and to assist with farm duties during school holiday periods as required.

Positions Available:

  • 1 x Farm Assistant (Saturday Cover): 3 hours every Saturday
  • 1 x Farm Assistant (Sunday Cover): 3 hours every Sunday

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the daily care and feeding of farm animals.
  • Monitor animal health and report any concerns promptly.
  • Maintain clean and safe animal housing, paddocks, and farm facilities.
  • Support routine farm maintenance, including fencing, grounds upkeep, and equipment care.
  • Follow all health and safety procedures and animal welfare standards.
  • Assist with farm activities and educational programmes when required.
  • Provide reliable cover during staff absences and school holiday periods.

Qualifications are not essential for this role, although it would be beneficial if applicants already have some relevant experience or background. Successful candidates will receive full mandatory training and will be trained specifically to carry out the duties required. However, please note that the training provided does not include an animal care qualification.

Applicants should be confident and comfortable working with both small and large animals. The current animals on site include three alpacas, two sheep, three goats, guinea pigs, rabbits, and chickens.

For this role, you will need to be confident taking on key holder duties as well as the associated responsibilities that come with working and managing the site independently when required.
