Cover Supervisor in Bury St Edmunds

We are seeking a confident, flexible and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join our secondary school team. This is a rewarding opportunity to support students’ learning by supervising classes during teacher absence and ensuring continuity of education across a broad curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Confidently cover lessons across all departments, including core subjects such as English, Maths and Science.
• Be willing and able to supervise practical subjects including PE, Food Technology, Textiles, Art and Design Technology.
• Follow lesson plans and instructions provided by teaching staff to ensure effective learning.
• Manage classroom behaviour confidently and maintain a positive, safe learning environment.
• Supervise practical activities safely and responsibly, adhering to school policies.
• Adapt to different classroom settings, subjects and teaching styles.
• Respond positively to last-minute cover requirements, demonstrating flexibility and reliability.
• Support and encourage students’ engagement and progress across the curriculum.

• Experienced in working with young people in an educational or similar setting (desirable, but not essential).

Actual Salary: £22,653 - £23,755. Working hours: 37 hours per week – Term time only plus 5 Inset days – 39 working weeks.
