Role Purpose

We are currently recruiting a Grassroots Scouting Coordinator within our Academy Recruitment department to lead and develop a local scouting network, identifying and assessing talented young players within a 90-minute radius of Tottenham Hotspur Academy.

The role will play a key part in supporting the Academy's player recruitment strategy, building strong relationships across the grassroots football landscape and ensuring the Club maintains comprehensive knowledge of emerging talent within London and the surrounding counties.

Key Responsibilities

To build and lead a network of local scouts to identify, assess and track talented players within London and the surrounding counties
To develop and maintain strong relationships with grassroots clubs, coaches, scouts and key football partners to maximise the Club's coverage and knowledge of local talent
Lead on trialist process including training and match day observations and documented feedback
Ensure all administration and documentation, including welcome packs, player records, communication and reviews, is completed to a consistently high standard.
Ensure maximum scouting coverage across London and the surrounding areas, with particular focus on identified priority areas and Academy requirements
Have overall responsibility for the quality control and effectiveness of the grassroots scouting network
Maintain a clear and up-to-date understanding of staff performance using agreed departmental KPIs and quality standards
Maintain a strong knowledge of internal Academy age groups, squad depth, positional requirements and priority recruitment areas
Lead weekly trialist meetings with Recruitment and Coaching staff
Oversee a structured programme of weekly, monthly and termly Talent ID events and fixtures
To maintain a comprehensive knowledge of talented players across London and the surrounding counties, ensuring relevant information and recommendations are communicated effectively to senior Academy Recruitment staff
To support the completion and collation of all relevant documentation and information required for potential player recruitment and registration in a timely and accurate manner
To play an active role in Academy player decision-making processes, providing informed insight and recommendations based on scouting activity and player assessment
To represent Tottenham Hotspur Academy professionally at grassroots clubs, matches, tournaments, meetings and other football environments, acting as an ambassador for the Club at all times
To ensure all scouting and recruitment activity is conducted in accordance with Club policies, protocols and regulations, particularly in relation to the recruitment and safeguarding of young players
To attend relevant Academy meetings, in-service days, training and development sessions at the Training Centre, online and off-site as required
To actively engage with the Club's Personal Development Programme and CPD provision, including relevant qualifications and development opportunities.
To demonstrate high energy, professionalism and a commitment to delivering a sector-leading Academy recruitment programme
To work collaboratively with Academy Recruitment, Coaching, Performance and other relevant departments to support the identification and progression of talented young players
To undertake other reasonable and ad hoc duties as requested by senior Academy management

Safeguarding Responsibilities

To undertake Child Protection and Safeguarding training as required and adhere to all guidelines contained within the Club's Safeguarding and Child Protection policies
Have a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people
Act in accordance with the Club's safeguarding policies and procedures at all times
Be alert to signs of abuse, neglect or safeguarding concerns and report these appropriately
Maintain professional boundaries and act as a positive role model when working with or around children and young people
Attend safeguarding training as required and maintain up-to-date safeguarding knowledge

Person Specification

What you will bring

A strong passion for identifying, assessing and working with young players and a genuine desire to support the development of future elite footballers
Experience working within a Category 1-3 Academy environment - experience
A demonstrable track record in scouting and recruitment, particularly within the Foundation and Youth Development phases
An extensive and established network of contacts across grassroots youth football
Strong knowledge of the local youth football landscape and the ability to identify emerging talent
Highly skilled at building, developing and influencing relationships with grassroots clubs, coaches, scouts and key stakeholders
Excellent observation, assessment and player identification skills, with the ability to provide clear and objective feedback
Meticulous attention to detail, with excellent organisational and administrative skills
The ability to prioritise workload effectively, manage multiple scouting commitments and work to tight deadlines
A proactive and self-motivated individual who can work effectively
