The Spurs Football Development Head Coach – Earlscliffe Sixth Form is a pivotal role within the department, blending elite coaching with meaningful educational outcomes. The post-holder will lead the planning, delivery and continuous improvement of a structured football programme embedded within a partner education setting, acting as the primary representative of the department and Club within that environment. As a senior member within the department, you will also be required to support on broader department or Club programmes in either a leadership or delivery capacity.
Key Responsibilities
- Coaching & Player Development: Lead the design and delivery of a structured, age-appropriate coaching programme aligned to the Spurs Football Development philosophy, ensuring holistic development across technical, tactical, physical, psychological and social aspects of the game. Coordinate and attend all partner match-day fixtures (home and away), managing staffing, squad selection, match officials and post-match review processes. Identify and report on talented players through the Club’s TID process, submitting well evidenced player reports and proactively nurturing pathways for talented individuals. Identify, recommend and mentor students with coaching potential for progression through the departments Coach Development Programme. Stay at the forefront of coaching by attending CPD events, researching contemporary trends and embedding new learning into programme delivery. Model the professional standards, attitudes and behaviours expected of all staff within both the department and the Club.
- Education Partner & Stakeholder Management: In partnership with the Domestic Programme Manager, lead the recruitment for the programme, ensuring annual enrolment targets are met and the quality of applicants continually improves. Represent the Club at all relevant partner events including trials, open days, taster sessions or awards ceremonies. Build and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders including fellow coaches, partner staff and students. Deliver outstanding client service to the education partner by proactively addressing contractual commitments, operational needs and liaising directly with the Domestic Programme Manager. Attend weekly programme operations meetings driving accountability against agreed KPIs and enrolment targets. Provide in-classroom academic support as required, contributing to the holistic development of students beyond the pitch. Coordinate and lead enrichment experiences for students including stadium visits, training centre visits and other Club events that reinforce aspirational goals and programme value. Produce high quality video and multimedia content to support player development, student engagement, programme promotion and recruitment campaigns.
- Operations & Administration: Attend half-termly working group meetings, presenting programme updates, performance data and recommendations to senior staff. Submit monthly engagement reports, capturing student achievements, attendance data, case studies and progress against programme targets. Conduct thorough generic and dynamic risk assessments for all programme activities, always ensuring safe and compliant delivery. Maintain timely, professional communication across all channels including email, department platforms and messaging applications, completing assigned tasks within requested timelines by Central Team members.
- Safeguarding: Work alongside the Club Safeguarding Manager’s and partner DSLs to champion safeguarding, maintaining practices in-line with the Club’s Safeguarding policies. Ensure all safeguarding concerns are reported through the Club’s MyConcern reporting system within 24 hours. Embed a safeguarding first culture within the coaching team, proactively disseminating information to your team and modelling best practice to colleagues. Actively keep up to date with current safeguarding training and practices, including the FA Safeguarding Children qualification, Keeping Children Safe in Education policies and the annual in-house Head Coach safeguarding training.
- Compliance & General Duties: Understand and comply with all relevant Club and partner policies. Understand and comply with the Club’s health and safety procedures. Adhere to the Spurs Football Development Coaching Code of Conduct. Promote, adhere to, and implement the Club’s Equality & Diversity Policy. Actively engage in all Spurs Football Development in-service training and development initiatives as required. Comply with all first aid procedures, administering competent first aid and keep accurate records of any care provided. Understand and comply with relevant partner processes procedures where applicable (including reporting student attendance, registration and team selection). Accurately record and report to the central team all other incidents that occur outside of safeguarding and first aid including complaints received, staff and student behaviour (including your own). Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be expected by your line manager.
