EJ Legal is exclusively partnering with Totara, a global leader in enterprise learning technology, to find its first Head of Legal to establish and lead the legal function during an exciting phase of international growth.

Backed by private equity investor Tenzing, Totara supports over 1,500 organisations and 21 million users worldwide, including the NHS, Amazon, Diageo, Toyota and Sony. Recent acquisitions and continued investment make this a unique opportunity to join a scaling SaaS business at a pivotal stage of its journey.

The role

Reporting to the CFO, you will act as a trusted adviser to the executive team, providing commercially focused legal support across:

  • Commercial contracts and SaaS agreements
  • Corporate transactions and M&A activity
  • Data protection and regulatory compliance
  • Employment and people matters
  • Intellectual property and technology law
  • Governance, legal operations and risk management

About you

  • Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales)
  • 7-12 years' PQE
  • Experience gained in private practice and in-house, ideally from another lean team
  • Commercial, pragmatic and solutions-focused
  • Comfortable operating across a broad legal remit
  • Experience in a technology, SaaS or PE-backed business is advantageous
