Senior Lecturer - Camera

The school, now approaching its 70th anniversary, is based in Covent Garden in the heart of London. London Film School is seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Lecturer – Camera to lead, teach, and inspire students across our postgraduate programmes. This is a unique opportunity to join a film school with a rich history and an unwavering commitment to practical filmmaking.

As a Senior Lecturer, you will play a key role in delivering high quality teaching, assessment, and support to our students. You’ll bring your professional expertise and creative insight to help students master the art and craft of cinematography, from visual storytelling and camera operation to lighting and lensing techniques.

You’ll also contribute to curriculum development, participate in student recruitment, and provide pastoral and academic support to ensure our students thrive both personally and professionally. Collaboration is central to this role, you’ll work closely with colleagues across disciplines to deliver an integrated and innovative learning experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the LFS curriculum and learning outcomes.
• Supervise and assess student work, providing constructive feedback to support growth and creativity.
• Contribute to curriculum review, programme validation, and continuous improvement.
• Undertake research or professional practice relevant to cinematography and film production.
• Support student recruitment and admissions activities when required.
• Provide mentorship and pastoral support to students, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
• Participate in programme and departmental meetings, contributing to the ongoing development of LFS’s academic community.

About You

You’ll have significant industry experience and a deep understanding of cinematography, visual storytelling, and the role of the camera within filmmaking. You’ll be confident in both the artistic and technical aspects of the craft, with a commitment to nurturing emerging talent.

You’ll also bring:

• Teaching experience at tertiary or professional training level.
• A postgraduate qualification (or equivalent professional experience) in a relevant discipline.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students.
• A collaborative approach and willingness to contribute to wider academic and professional initiatives.
