Salary: £58,191 – £63,191 perannum plus generous annual leave and pension, Salary will be determined basedon skills, experience and alignment with the role, in line with our pay policy.

We are now seeking an experienced and commerciallyminded Professional Development & Events Team Manager tolead the delivery and growth of our award-winning events and professionaldevelopment portfolio.

Role Summary

This is a key leadership role within theorganisation, reporting to the Director of Professional and ProgrammeDevelopment.

You will lead our Events Team, overseeing theplanning, production and delivery of a diverse portfolio of conferences,professional development programmes and member engagement activities. Combiningstrategic thinking with operational excellence, you will ensure our eventscontinue to deliver outstanding experiences for participants while supporting the sustainable growth of the organisation.

You will play a central role in shaping newprogrammes, strengthening relationships with members, speakers, sponsors andpartners, and using data, technology and automation to improve the participantjourney and enhance business performance.

As a team manager, you will lead and developcolleagues, fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture focused oncontinuous improvement and exceptional customer service.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, production and delivery of theChartered ABS events and professional development portfolio, ensuringprogrammes are engaging, high quality and commercially successful.
  • Research emerging sector trends and memberpriorities to develop relevant conferences, workshops and professionaldevelopment programmes.
  • Recruit, manage and support speakers, facilitatorsand external contributors.
  • Oversee the participant journey from initialenquiry through to post-event engagement, ensuring an outstanding customerexperience.
  • Develop personalised participant communicationsand improve operational efficiency through the effective use of technology andautomation.
  • Drive participant recruitment by building strongrelationships with members, business schools and prospectivedelegates.
  • Support sponsorship and commercial partnershipactivity to maximise engagement and long-term value.
  • Use CRM data, dashboards and performance insightsto inform decision-making and improve commercial performance.
  • Work closely with marketing colleagues to developtargeted campaigns that maximise registrations.
  • Lead, develop and support the Events Team, promoting collaboration, continuous improvement and operationalexcellence.

About you

You will be an experienced events or professionaldevelopment manager with excellent organisational, leadership and relationshipmanagement skills.

You will bring:

  • Experience managing conferences, events, trainingcourses or professional development programmes.
  • Experience delivering excellent participant,customer or member engagement within a membership organisation, higher educationinstitution or similarly customer-focused environment.
  • A successful track record of recruitingparticipants through relationship management, marketing activity and data-leddecision making.
  • Experience leading, developing and motivatingteams.
  • Strong project management skills, with the abilityto manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Experience writing engaging and marketable eventprogrammes and working closely with marketing teams.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability tobalance member value with organisational objectives.
  • Experience improving operational processes throughtechnology, automation and digital innovation, together with experience inbusiness development, sponsorship or account management, would beadvantageous.
