Occupational Therapist (Grenfell Education Hub) (Term Time)

Support the North Kensington community to rebuild, aspire and shape futures beyond tragedy. This is a unique role in a community led multi-disciplinary team focused on delivering educational support that builds the confidence and capacity of all stakeholders locally. As the sole Occupational Therapist in the Grenfell Education Team, you will be working adaptably and innovatively alongside a Speech and Language Therapist, specialist teachers, an Educational Psychologist, and a Family Practitioner. You will collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team, working with children and young people, families, professionals, and institutions who continue to live with the impact of the Grenfell Tower tragedy. Through trauma-informed, relationship-based practice, you will connect with the community to engage with learning, regain confidence, and begin to imagine futures led not by fear or limitation, but by ambition, aspiration and possibility.

Working Style: You’ll be based in North Kensington, with the majority of your time working directly with local people and professionals, and around 20% of your week available flexibly for professional learning and team commitments. Your time will be divided equally between school based delivery and responding directly to residents who visit the Education Hub. The collaborative, multi-disciplinary nature of the approach values clear professional roles and as a result benefits from each specialism's expertise.

As the Hub's Occupational Therapist, you will practise as an autonomous professional with your specialist expertise recognised and protected. You will receive regular profession-specific supervision that supports ethical practice, reflective judgement, and learning opportunities, alongside supportive line management to enable safe, reflective and sustainable practice and strong multidisciplinary working across the team.

What you'll be doing: Your work will focus on building the capacity of other professionals and parents/carers to support children and young people with a variety of needs. You’ll provide advice and guidance, assessment, and ongoing support as well as contributing to training and impact evaluation. You will provide inclusive, person-centred Occupational Therapy for children and young people aged 0-25 with diverse needs. You will deliver compassionate therapy that is meaningful, accessible and empowering to every child and their family. You will work with children, young people, parents/carers and school staff across community and education settings, working collaboratively with other professionals in a multidisciplinary team to create positive outcomes. You will also design and deliver tailored interventions to support children and young people to function and thrive. Your focus will be on restoring a sense of agency and potential - helping children and their families believe in their right to belong, achieve, and aspire. You'll carry out a variety of assessments and write clear, accessible reports that support real, sustainable change. These aren't just clinical exercises - they are acts of advocacy, helping schools, families and professionals understand what young people need to feel safe, connected and capable of moving forward.

What you'll bring: You'll be an experienced, qualified Occupational Therapist, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). You'll bring not only the clinical skills required to assess and advise, but a deep commitment to ensuring that the lives of young people affected by Grenfell are not defined by trauma alone. You'll be working creatively, listening to stakeholders' views to refine your work and bring about changes that can last. You'll be a thoughtful communicator and collaborator, able to build trust with families, schools and professionals who may still be navigating the long tail of loss and disruption. You'll be confident working at different levels - supporting change not just for individuals, but across classrooms, families and communities - always with the goal of helping children grow into futures shaped by choice, not circumstance.

Working hours: 36 hours p/w (term time only + 15 days).

Interview details & role requirements: Contract: Term time + 15 days. This role requires an Enhanced DBS with children's barred list. Interviews will be held in person week commencing 24th August 2026.
