About the role

The Institute of Ismaili Studies (IIS) is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Infrastructure Engineer to provide technical infrastructure support across the Aga Khan Centre (AKC).

Reporting to the IT Operations Manager, the postholder will act as a key technical expert and escalation point for complex infrastructure, systems, and technology-related matters.

The role will manage and develop the AKC’s technical infrastructure, including servers, networks, cloud services, security, audio-visual systems, and educational technologies.

The Infrastructure Engineer will also act as a technical consultant on projects, undertake horizon scanning and strategic technology planning, and work closely with the wider IT team and users across the organisation to deliver reliable, secure, and user-focused technology solutions.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced IT infrastructure professional to take a leading technical role within a diverse and internationally focused academic environment.

What we’re looking for

  • Strong knowledge of operating systems, network protocols, servers, networking, cloud services, and security.

Experience providing advanced technical support and acting as an escalation point for complex issues.

  • Experience of technical consultancy, horizon scanning, and strategic technology planning.
  • Strong problem-solving, organisational, and communication skills, with experience working with and supporting people at all levels.
  • Experience of leadership and mentoring, with the ability to support the development of colleagues.
  • Experience with educational technologies and platforms such as LMS/VLE would be advantageous.

This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in developing and supporting the technology infrastructure of the Aga Khan Centre while contributing to the Institute’s wider strategic and operational goals.
