21 May 2025 About the role… We have opportunities for Emergency Care Practitioners and Emergency Nurse Practitioners to join our team on a permanent basis (Full-time & Part-time), based at our Urgent Treatment Centre within Watford General Hospital. Working as an Emergency Practitioner within our Urgent Treatment Centre, you will be responsible for the assessment of health and clinical needs of our patients, you\’ll use your minor injuries clinical skills, and own clinical judgement to diagnose, treat, refer or discharge patients. This role will include face to face consultations supported by a variable rota covering weekdays, evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Your day to day… Carry out consultations with patients – taking a comprehensive patient history; physical examinations and use of your expert knowledge and clinical judgement to identify potential diagnosis. Decide on and carry out treatment, referring to primary or secondary care specialist services within local agreed pathways and protocols as appropriate. To either prescribe or work from PGD’s as required to support the immediate needs of minor injuries patients presenting in the UTC. Provide clinical advice and mentorship to junior clinical staff. Qualifications, Experience & Training… Registered Nurse or Paramedic – First Level Nurse or other healthcare professional qualification leading to registration Evidence of degree level study or equivalent Evidence of completion of study in minor injuries and x-ray interpretation Independent non-medical prescriber or able to work with PGD’s Evidence of completion of study in paediatric minor injuries or willingness to develop these skills Ability to work autonomously 36 days annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays) – pro rata for part-time NHS pension *if applicable Employee assistance program Virtual GP Services – 24/7 GP Appointments If you need any adjustments during the recruitment process, please let us know.
