Controls Engineers are essential to any manufacturing process. In general, they are responsible for ensuring that manufacturing processes are running smoothly and efficiently, while constantly reviewing procedures and equipment. As a result, a Control Engineer will be closely involved in the manufacturing process at every stage, whether it’s coming up with long term maintenance plans or streamlining a process to ensure faster production. Making sure that safety standards are maintained is also a key part of this role.
Due to the large amount of troubleshooting involved in this role, Controls Engineers need to have excellent analytical skills. A solid understanding of industry-relevant software and hardware is also very important. Being able to effectively analyse plant processes, and then actively identify, design and implement improvements will be a major part of the job as well. Excellent communication skills are also a must for Control Engineers, as they will be liaising with colleagues regularly. Most Control Engineer roles expect candidates to have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialist Process Control System (PCS) technical expertise and support for the process plant.
- Support the development and implementation of technical solutions.
- Assist in ensuring accurate tolerance and dimensional control across all designs.
- Work closely with the Senior Production Engineer to ensure product designs are effective.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong understanding of relevant software and hardware.
- Effective communication skills.
