Our Northern Ireland Maintenance team provides responsive and planned mechanical services, minor works, refurbishments and compliance support on live, occupied sites. Role Overview The Mechanical Contracts Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of the mechanical team delivering small mechanical works and maintenance projects across Northern Ireland. You will oversee planning, coordination, quality, health & safety and commercial performance of mechanical reactive and planned works, ensuring excellent client service and profitable delivery. Key Responsibilities Manage and lead the mechanical team (engineers, technicians and subcontractors) delivering small mechanical works, reactive repairs, planned maintenance and minor project works. Plan, prioritise and allocate work orders to ensure efficient use of resources, timely response and high first-time fix rates. Oversee the full lifecycle of mechanical contracts and work packages from enquiry/quoting through delivery, handover and invoicing. Ensure all works are delivered to the required quality standards, within programme and budget, and in line with client specifications and TOTALIS procedures. Maintain strong relationships with clients, site contacts and internal stakeholders; act as the primary mechanical contact for assigned contracts. Monitor and report on team performance, job progress, costs, margins and KPIs. Ensure full compliance with health & safety legislation, company policies and client site rules; promote a strong safety culture. Coordinate with the helpdesk, commercial, electrical and other maintenance teams to deliver integrated multi-trade solutions where required. Manage subcontractors, including selection, briefing, performance monitoring and payment. Support business development by identifying additional works opportunities and assisting with tenders and client presentations. Maintain accurate records, method statements, risk assessments and job documentation. Drive continuous improvement in processes, productivity and client satisfaction. Essential Requirements Proven experience managing mechanical teams and small mechanical works/contracts within facilities management, building services or a similar environment. Strong technical knowledge of mechanical building services (HVAC, heating, plumbing, ventilation, plant, etc.). Experience delivering works on live, occupied commercial sites. Solid commercial awareness with the ability to manage costs, margins and variations. Excellent organisational, prioritisation and people-management skills. Strong communication and client-facing skills. Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across Northern Ireland. Competence in relevant health & safety practices (SSSTS / SMSTS or equivalent desirable). Desirable Relevant mechanical engineering or building services qualification (NVQ, HNC/HND or equivalent). Experience within the Northern Ireland facilities management or construction sector. Familiarity with CAFM / helpdesk systems. IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.
