We are currently looking for an experienced UK Digital Communications Lead to join us on a contractor PAYE basis. This is a fixed-term maternity cover role, scheduled to run from approx. February 2026 through to February 2027. This role is full time position offering a Hybrid working option. This role requires the incumbent to be office based 3 days per week.
The position of UK Digital Communications Lead will sit within the Communications Team but delivers support to the wider UK businesses, ensuring a cohesive, UK-wide approach across multiple tools and channels including the website, intranet and social media. The businesses in the UK reflect the energy lifecycle: from exploration and production to lubricants and bitumen, via EV charging points, gas and electricity supply, offshore wind, solar power and batteries.
The UK Digital Communications Lead will support all the UK businesses to present as one business in support of our Company ambition to be a major player in the energy transition.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate personal commitment to HSSE policies and standards.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant statutory and Company HSE requirements.
- Actively participate in safety initiatives and awareness programs.
- Serve as an active member and provide cover for the UK Communications Manager on the TEPUK Emergency Response Crisis Management Team.
- Design and implement UK-wide digital communication strategies aligned with Company goals and best practices.
- Manage and enhance the UK website to showcase the breadth of our operations.
- Develop and oversee social media channels and campaigns, ensuring cohesive messaging and measurable impact.
- Deliver employee advocacy training to empower storytelling across the organization.
- Support recruitment and customer-facing teams with effective digital campaigns.
- Optimize internal communication tools (intranet, Viva Engage, ONELAN screens) for seamless engagement.
- Create high-quality, brand-aligned content for digital platforms.
- Collaborate with internal teams to craft stories for social media and digital channels.
- Assist with crisis communications and provide cover for external media relations when required.
- Partner with stakeholders to deliver impactful internal campaigns aligned with business priorities.
- Provide support for strategic and leadership communications as needed.

Candidate Profile
- Extensive experience in managing digital communications channels, including social media, within demanding and fast-paced environments.
- Proven ability to manage traditional media relations, including press engagement.
- Highly adaptable with a collaborative approach; recognized as a strong team player.
- Quick to grasp new concepts and adept at handling complex and competing priorities.
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 tools.
- Degree qualified (desirable).
- Familiarity with video and audio production, as well as design tools (desirable).
- Strong focus on stakeholder relationship building and skilled at simplifying complex or technical topics for diverse audiences.
- (Desirable) Experience in crisis communications, video production, and design tools.
