Total Waste Recruitment is seeking to appoint an Environmental Permitting Consultant at Senior or Principal level to join a growing team of specialist environmental consultants.
Location: Coventry and surrounding areas
Salary: £40-60k

About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering Environmental Permitting services within the UK waste management and industrial sectors, supporting a diverse portfolio of projects including landfill, waste treatment, hazardous waste, and resource recovery operations. You will provide technical leadership, regulatory expertise, and project management support, working closely with clients, the Environment Agency, and local authorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver expert support across a wide range of Environmental Permitting projects
- Prepare and manage permit applications, environmental risk assessments, and management plans
- Oversee projects and mentor junior consultants
- Interpret environmental monitoring data and produce detailed technical reports
- Liaise with waste operators, regulators, and stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with UK environmental legislation and permitting regulations
About You
We are looking for candidates with strong experience in Environmental Permitting and regulatory compliance, ideally within the waste management or industrial sectors. You may have been an Environmental Permitting Consultant, Waste permitting officer, Environmental Permitting Advisor, Environmental Compliance Consultant, or Environmental Regulatory Consultant.
Essential Experience
- Proven experience in Environmental Permitting (England & Wales)
- Strong knowledge of Environmental Permitting Regulations (EPR), Pollution Prevention and Control (PPC), and Waste Management Licensing
- Experience across waste sectors such as: Landfill, Waste Treatment, Hazardous waste
- Ability to analyse and report on environmental monitoring data
- Experience working with the Environment Agency and local authorities
- Demonstrable project management experience
- Excellent technical knowledge of UK environmental legislation
- Strong project management and organisational skills
- Ability to provide clear technical advice and guidance
Qualifications
- Degree (or equivalent) in an environmental or related discipline
- CIWM membership (desirable)
- Full UK driving licence
