EXPERIENCED ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGER, OR SHEQ / HSEQ / QHSE / HSE COMPLIANCE MANAGER WITH STRONG ENVIRONMENTAL SKILLS REQUIRED FOR MULTISITE OPERATION IN THE WASTE MANAGEMENT & RECYCLING SECTOR.
SALARY: Circa £48-57,000 DOE, plus Car Allowance or Car & Fuel Card.
BENEFITS: 25 days + B/H rising with service, Life Assurance, Enhanced Pension.
FLEXIBLE HOURS: 40 hrs worked between 6am and 6pm Mon to Fri.
LOCATION: Sites across Yorkshire, Good A1 access ideal.
YOU WILL HAVE BEEN AN: Environmental Manager, Environmental & Sustainability Manager, SHEQ Manager, HSEQ Manager, QHSE Manager, Compliance Manager.
YOU WILL HAVE WORKED IN A SECTOR WITH DETAILED ENVIRONMENTAL PERMITTING REQUIREMENTS SUCH AS: Waste Management, Recycling, Aggregates, Quarry, Landfill, Anaerobic Digestion, In-Vessel Composting, Skip Hire etc.
ROLE: You lead environmental compliance and sustainability across multiple sites, ensuring adherence to ISO standards, Environmental Agency regulations, and permit conditions. Your role involves conducting audits, managing permits and reporting, and driving corrective actions to mitigate risks. You develop and deliver CSR and sustainability initiatives, including energy, waste, water, and carbon-reduction programmes, while collaborating with consultants and internal teams to optimise performance. You oversee waste management compliance, PRN processes, and site-level environmental controls such as dust, noise, water, and storage limits. You provide training, guidance, and cross-functional support to embed environmental best practice, investigate incidents, and align operations with evolving regulations. You also maintain key environmental management tools such as aspects and impacts registers, SWOT and PESTEL analyses, and prepare permit applications and variations to support ongoing business needs. You also assist in the management of health and safety.
EXPERIENCE: Experience in a similar role. Environmental Qualification such as WAMITAB / COTC. IEMA, NEBOSH Environmental. Have a comprehensive knowledge of 14001 ISO standard. Experience of managing Environmental permits, EA site visits and non-conformance reports e.g. CAR and WARs. A UK Driving Licence.
Other desirable, non-essential skills/quals: NEBOSH General; Knowledge of 9001 (Quality), 50001 (Energy) and or 45001 (Safety).
