Are you an experienced Plant & Fleet Manager, Fleet Manager, Transport Manager or Asset Manager looking for your next challenge? We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established business seeking a commercially minded Fleet Manager to oversee a diverse fleet of HGVs, commercial vehicles, mobile plant, skips and operational assets. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in fleet management, transport compliance, DVSA regulations, Operator Licence compliance, vehicle maintenance, and asset management.
The Role
As Plant & Fleet Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the company's fleet and plant assets remain safe, compliant, cost effective and operationally efficient. Your responsibilities will include:
- Manage HGVs, commercial vehicles, mobile plant and operational assets.
- Ensure full DVSA, Operator Licence and transport compliance.
- Oversee servicing, MOTs, PMIs, defect management and maintenance planning.
- Maximise fleet utilisation, asset performance and operational efficiency.
- Manage maintenance providers, contractors and workshop operations.
- Monitor maintenance costs, fuel usage, budgets and fleet KPIs.
- Maintain accurate fleet records and compliance documentation.
- Lead health & safety standards while driving continuous improvement and fleet replacement initiatives.
You may have been a Fleet Management, Plant Management, Transport Management, Commercial Vehicle Operations, HGV Fleet Management, Workshop Management, Asset Management, Transport Compliance, Vehicle Maintenance, Plant Maintenance, Fleet Compliance, Logistics Operations in the following industries: Waste Management, Construction, Utilities, Quarrying, Civil Engineering or Heavy Industry.
You’ll also have:
- Strong knowledge of DVSA regulations, Operator Licence compliance and UK transport legislation.
- Experience managing fleet maintenance, compliance, and operational performance.
- Excellent leadership, organisational and planning skills.
- Confident managing contractors, workshops and external suppliers.
- IT proficient with fleet management systems and Microsoft Office.
- CPC, IOSH/NEBOSH and FORS knowledge desirable but not essential.
