Total Waste Recruitment is assisting a leading healthcare waste supplier to recruit for a Waste Auditor/ Compliance Advisor. Are you an experienced Healthcare Waste Auditor, Environmental Compliance Advisor, or Waste Management Specialist looking to make a real environmental impact? We are looking for an experienced auditor/advisor to operate in the NHS and private healthcare sector in improving waste segregation, regulatory compliance, and sustainability performance.
The Role: As a Healthcare Waste Auditor, you will work directly with NHS Trusts and healthcare providers to improve waste management processes, reduce environmental impact, and ensure full regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct waste separation and environmental compliance audits across NHS hospitals, clinics, dentists and community healthcare sites.
- Support and review Pre-Acceptance Audits.
- Impart knowledge of HTM 07-01 guidance, UK waste legislation, and NHS sustainability targets.
- Manage your own audit schedule.
- Identify non-conformances, risks, and opportunities for operational improvement.
- Produce clear audit reports with actionable recommendations.
- Deliver training to clinical and non-clinical staff on correct healthcare waste segregation.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
About You
We are looking for a detail-focused professional with strong knowledge of healthcare waste management and environmental compliance.
Essential Experience
- Experience in healthcare waste management, auditing, or compliance.
- Strong understanding of HTM 07-01 (Health Technical Memorandum 07-01) and UK waste legislation.
- Excellent auditing, analytical, and report writing skills.
- Confident communicator able to engage with clinical and operational staff at all levels.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
Desirable Skills
- Environmental or waste management qualifications such as CIWM or IEMA.
- Experience conducting ISO 14001 environmental audits.
- Experience delivering training or workshops.
