Aluminium and Steel Welder/Fabricator & Trainer

The Aluminium Welder Fabricator & Trainer is responsible for the manufacture, welding and fabrication of high-quality aluminium or steel structures and components for industrial vehicles supplied throughout the UK and European markets. In addition to production duties, the role is responsible for developing, mentoring and training welders and fabricators to ensure compliance with company standards, Type Approval requirements and industry best practices.

Duties and Responsibilities

Welding & Fabrication

  • Manufacture and fabricate aluminium or steel components and assemblies to engineering drawings, specifications and quality standards.
  • Perform high-quality MIG and TIG welding on aluminium structures and vehicle body components.
  • Read, interpret and work from complex engineering drawings, CAD drawings and technical specifications.
  • Ensure all fabrication work is completed accurately and efficiently to production schedules.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship and quality throughout all stages of manufacture.
  • Complete and return all production documentation and job cards accurately in line with Type Approval and company requirements

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure all work complies with Company Quality Procedures, COP (Conformity of Production) and Type Approval standards.
  • Carry out visual weld inspections and quality checks to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Support root cause investigations and corrective actions relating to fabrication and welding quality issues.
  • Promote continuous improvement initiatives within the production environment.

Training & Development

  • Deliver practical welding and fabrication training to apprentices, new starters and existing employees.
  • Develop training plans, competency assessments and skills matrixes for welding personnel. provide feedback to supervisors and management.
  • Coach and mentor team members to improve technical capability, productivity and quality standards.
  • Conduct welding demonstrations and best practice workshops.
  • Support the development and maintenance of welding procedures and training materials.

Leadership & Team Support

  • Act as a technical expert and point of reference for welding and fabrication queries.
  • Support supervisors with workforce planning, skills development and succession planning.
  • Promote a positive safety culture and ensure compliance with Health & Safety requirements.
  • Lead by example in terms of quality, attendance, professionalism and teamwork.

Experience, knowledge & skills

  • Extensive experience as a MIG/TIG Aluminium Welder Fabricator.
  • Proven experience working within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering and CAD drawings.
  • Strong understanding of welding standards, quality control procedures and fabrication techniques.
  • Experience mentoring, coaching or training colleagues.
  • Good understanding of health and safety requirements within a fabrication environment.
