Mc Phee Mixers is looking for a skilled and motivated

Electrical Fitter to join our growing team in Motherwell.

Working within our production facility, you will be responsible for installing, testing, fault-finding and repairing electrical systems on concrete mixer vehicles and specialist commercial vehicle body builds.

You will play a key role in ensuring all electrical installations meet customer specifications, Type Approval requirements and Company quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and wire electrical systems on concrete mixer vehicles and specialist commercial vehicle body builds.
  • Install, wire and test vehicle electrical systems and ancillary equipment, including lighting, control panels, cameras, sensors, alarms and PTO controls where applicable.
  • Sensors and ancillary electrical equipment.
  • Test completed electrical installations and rectify any faults prior to quality inspection.
  • Carry out electrical fault-finding using wiring diagrams and diagnostic equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, build drawings and customer specifications.
  • Work closely with Mechanical Fitters during the vehicle build process.
  • Complete electrical installations in line with Company Operating Procedures (COP) and Type Approval requirements.
  • Accurately complete job cards and production documentation.
  • Assist with customer warranty work and on-site repairs where required.
  • Ensure completed vehicles pass final Quality Control inspection.

Essential Skills

  • Experience as an Auto Electrician or Electrical Fitter.
  • Experience working on commercial vehicles, HGVs, trailers or specialist vehicle body builds.
  • Strong knowledge of 12V and 24V vehicle electrical systems.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and electrical schematics.
  • Electrical fault-finding and diagnostic experience.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills.

Desirable

  • Experience working on concrete mixer vehicles or municipal vehicles.
  • Knowledge of CAN Bus systems.
  • Experience fitting PTO controls and hydraulic electrical interfaces.
  • Relevant automotive electrical qualification.
  • Experience using electrical diagnostic equipment.
  • Relevant electrical or automotive qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent).
