Join Hatchell Wood Preschool as a Level 3 Apprentice Practitioner, supporting children's learning in a warm, caring setting. Gain hands-on experience, work closely with families, and help create a safe, inspiring environment while building a rewarding career in early years education.
Annual wage: £6,281.60 – £10, may increase after probation.
Training course: Early Years Educator (Level 3, equivalent to A Level).
Hours: 16 hours/week (between 7:15 am – 5:45 pm).
Start date: 5 Jan 2026 | Duration: 18 months | Positions available: 1.
Work: As an apprentice, you'll gain practical experience while learning from experienced staff.
Key responsibilities:
- Follow EYFS and preschool policies.
- Create a safe, stimulating learning environment indoors and outdoors.
- Act as a key person for a small group of children.
- Build strong relationships with parents and carers.
- Identify and report safeguarding concerns.
- Support and teach children through play and planned activities.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Write clear reports and keep accurate records.
- Work with external agencies when required.
- Support preschool self-evaluation and improvement.
- Carry out other reasonable duties to support preschool aims.
Location: Hatchell Wood Primary School, Plumpton Park Road, Bessacarr, Doncaster, DN4 6SL.
Training: Training is provided by Total Training Provision Limited, with at least 20% of your working hours spent on off-the-job learning, including:
- E-learning and self-study modules.
- One-to-one coaching.
- Employer-led training, projects and masterclasses.
- Functional skills in English and Maths (if needed).
- Portfolio of evidence and knowledge test.
Progression routes: Level 5 Early Years Lead Practitioner, senior roles in early years settings.
Requirements:
- Essential qualifications and experience:
- Level 2 Childcare Qualification or above – this apprenticeship is only open to candidates who already hold a Level 2 Early Years qualification.
- Level 3 Safeguarding Certificate.
- Paediatric First Aid Certificate.
- Grade 4 (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
- At least 12 months working in an early years setting.
Skills and attributes: Communication, IT, attention to detail, team working, patience, initiative, creativity, problem-solving, non-judgemental approach.
