An opportunity has become available for a Maintenance Supervisor at a major industrial gases production facility in Morden. The successful candidate will join a team of skilled engineers to support the operations team in maintaining the safe and reliable operation of the on-site equipment.
This vacancy will ideally suit an experienced time served mechanical technician (although electrical or instrument may be considered) with a general heavy engineering background who is ideally looking to get into a line manager role.
You will be an experienced time served mechanical technician who may also have some process or commissioning experience along with strong practical SHEQ knowledge including permit to work and contractor control.
The role:
To organise and control all engineering activities at Glasgow to ensure plant reliability, a safe place of work and an orderly and well-maintained environment. The scope of the objective covers Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation disciplines.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure all plant on site is regularly maintained through management of resources (people & plant) by use of Planned Maintenance on SAP
- Provide defect maintenance service which will ensure that faulty plant and equipment will be rectified as quickly as possible.
- Control of Permit to Work system
- Maintain safe working practices, including strict control of Permit to Work system thereby ensuring that internal maintenance team and 3rd party contractors carry out work in a safe manner
- Control costs to meet maintenance budget
- Maximise productivity through supervision of the workforce
- Provide major input into the resolution of plant problems
- Involvement in accident investigation and reporting to maximise knowledge of causes and therefore enhance ability to prevent recurrence
- Departmental safety responsibilities, ensuring actions are completed.
- Control contractors for civil, mechanical, instrument and electrical work.
- Visibly demonstrate that SHEQ will not be compromised by other business needs.
Knowledge and Experience Required:
- City & Guilds equivalent time served in Mechanical, electrical or instrument disciplines
- Knowledge of plant maintenance and SHEQ (IOSH safety management an advantage).
- Experience of man-management.
- Good communication skills
- Knowledge of appropriate regulatory and legislative requirements to the role
- ATEX Qualification an advantage but not essential
