Job Opportunity: Domestic Abuse Family Support Specialist (With Childcare) – Women Only (Occupational Requirement)
Location: Across sites in Central Northampton & Northamptonshire
Hours: 37 hours/week, flexible over 5 days (including evenings & on-call rota)
Contract: Permanent
We’re looking for a compassionate, driven, and experienced Domestic Abuse Family Support Specialist to join our team supporting women, children, and young people affected by domestic abuse.
Occupational Requirement: This post is open only to women who are recorded female at birth and are not transgender (Schedule 9, Equality Act 2010).
What You’ll Do:
- Provide holistic support to families impacted by domestic abuse
- Deliver person-centred interventions across five key outcome areas: physical survival, safety, belonging, self-worth, and purpose
- Work in partnership with internal teams and external agencies
- Deliver group work and assist with childcare and children’s activities
- Manage a caseload and maintain accurate records
Essential Requirements:
- Relevant Level 3 childcare/youth qualification (e.g. NVQ Early Years, NNEB)
- Proven experience supporting vulnerable individuals/families with complex needs
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, risk assessment, and trauma-informed practice
- Excellent communication, crisis management, and record-keeping skills
- Flexible, proactive, and team-oriented approach
- Full driving licence and access to own transport (or ability to travel effectively across the county)
- Willingness to work unsocial hours and be part of an on-call rota
- Must be currently living free from violence
