We are currently retained on a project to find an Engineering Project Manager to join a successful, and growing SME within the Food Manufacturing sector. This role could be the perfect transition for a current Project Engineer who's looking to make their first move into a Project Manager role.
Reporting to the Head of Engineering, this role will be key in the growth and development of a complex food manufacturing site. The site is well-invested and operates on a relatively lean structure, allowing them to make decisions quickly and act accordingly – not waiting for multiple layers of sign-offs! You will be exposed to projects of varying scales, some underway and others pipelined for the near future.
Role:
- Lead/Assist end-to-end delivery of engineering projects, including capital investment, plant upgrades, and process optimisation initiatives. Plan and oversee all project matters.
- Implement improvements and drive initiatives to ensure maximum effectiveness.
- Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets aligned with production schedules.
- Ensure minimal disruption to manufacturing operations during project execution.
- Act as the key interface between internal teams, suppliers, and contractors.
- Provide regular project updates, risk assessments, and performance reports to senior leadership.
- Oversee installation, commissioning, and validation of new equipment and systems.
- Ensure all projects are transferred fully to the maintenance and production teams.
- Ensure all projects comply with food safety standards.
- Embed hygienic design principles in all engineering solutions.
- Work closely with Quality and Technical teams to meet regulatory and audit requirements.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, environmental, and legal standards.
- Develop and manage Capex & Revenue budgets and business cases.
- Help to prepare budgets and forecasts for assigned activities in accordance with the budget.
- Review financial statements to measure productivity and to identify areas for process improvement, cost reduction and improved operational efficiency.
- Develop plans for new applications, technologies and design alternatives that offer benefits to both the manufacturing and other site functions.
- Operate as part of the site operations team facilitating good interdepartmental communications.
