Job Summary: We are seeking a reliable and experienced Class 1 Container Driver to join our logistics team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and timely transport of shipping containers to and from ports, distribution centres, and customer locations, ensuring full compliance with all road transport regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate Class 1 (C+E) vehicles transporting containers.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Secure containers properly using twist locks and other securing methods.
- Pick up and deliver containers to/from ports, warehouses, and customer sites.
- Complete all necessary paperwork and electronic documentation accurately.
- Comply with all driving laws, transport regulations, and company policies.
- Maintain communication with dispatch regarding delivery progress, delays, or issues.
- Ensure load is delivered safely, on time, and in compliance with client requirements.
- Report vehicle defects or damage immediately to the transport manager.
- Assist with loading/unloading if required, following health and safety guidelines.
Requirements:
- Valid Class 1 (C+E) UK driving licence
- Valid Driver CPC qualification and Digital Tachograph card.
- Minimum 2 years of experience driving articulated lorries (container work preferred).
- Good knowledge of UK road networks and port procedures (e.g., Felixstowe, Southampton, etc.).
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Desirable:
- Experience using port systems
- Knowledge of container haulage regulations
