A hands‑on, detail‑driven Printing Operative is required to take ownership of our clients label‑printing function and support the wider production workflow. This role suits someone confident with print machinery, comfortable supervising a small team, and able to maintain business‑critical traceability standards.
You will oversee the full label‑printing process — from machine setup to supplier communication — ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance at every stage.
Responsibilities- Operate printing computers and label‑printing systems.
- Carry out ribbon changes and adjust print screens/settings.
- Print wash‑care labels, chair labels, date codes, barcodes, and customer‑specific information.
- Ensure all labels meet strict traceability requirements — business critical.
- Maintain accuracy for washing instructions, recall instructions, and customer‑required data.
- Take control of the packing prep area and back‑room workflow.
- Organise and lead a team of three, ensuring workloads align with the production schedule.
- Maintain a clean, efficient, and well‑organised print and prep environment.
- Support continuous improvement and uphold high quality standards.
- Communicate confidently with suppliers — including negotiating rates.
- Order ribbons, materials, and print consumables.
- Ensure stock levels support uninterrupted production.
- Not afraid to pick up the phone and resolve issues quickly.
- Background in label printing or similar print‑production environments.
- Experience with digital printing, leaflets, barcodes, or similar formats (preferred).
- Strong sense of responsibility and ownership.
