We are seeking two Quantity Surveyors for a full-time, permanent job opportunity due to two internal promotions.

Location: Covering sites across the central belt of Scotland, based in the West of Scotland.

Salary: This will depend on the level the individual is at in their career, ranging from £40,000 to £60,000.

Remuneration:

  • For less experienced Surveyors looking for the next move up: £40,000 - £50,000 + Company Car + Fuel Card + Bonus.
  • For more experienced Surveyors: £50,000 - £60,000 + Company Car + Fuel Card + Bonus.

Overview: A large, very successful and well-established construction and civil engineering business is expanding once again. Joining six Quantity Surveyors at various levels, the company is looking to add one more person due to significant business/contract awards.

Industry Sector: Groundworks, Civil Engineering, House Building.

Location: Office in Glasgow where the QS will be based. The role will likely be about 60% in office and 40% on sites, covering areas from Ayrshire through Central Scotland up to Fife and Perth and Kinross, with a smaller presence beyond the Edinburgh bypass.

The role of the Quantity Surveyor will involve:

  • Managing the commercial aspects of various civils and groundwork projects involving, but not limited to, earthworks, sewer installation, roads, and hard landscaped finishes for developers, house builders, and local authorities.
  • Manage month-end applications, invoicing & valuations within agreed timescales.
  • Identify variations, communicate to clients, and obtain cost approval.
  • Manage client contractual requirements within contract documents.
  • Produce P&L reports for all projects.
  • Manage sub-contractors.
  • Attend site for internal/external meetings including site measures.
  • Work on projects ranging in value from £20K to £20M.

The ideal applicant will be a fully qualified Quantity Surveyor with:

  • Preferred Quantity Surveying experience within the groundworks market sector (not mandatory).
  • Quantity Surveying degree or equivalent.
  • Confident relationship builder.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • IT literate (Microsoft Office).
  • Good financial and numerical skills.
  • High levels of attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and work accurately under pressure.
  • Familiarity with cost reporting & valuations.
  • Full UK driving license.
