They are seeking a motivated Hydraulic Civil Engineer to join their growing team, delivering projects predominantly within the water, wastewater, utilities, and infrastructure sectors.

In this role, you will contribute to the hydraulic analysis, design, and optimisation of civil engineering systems across water and wastewater treatment works, pumping stations, storage facilities, pipelines, and drainage networks.

Working under the guidance of senior engineers, you will support the development of efficient, safe, and sustainable hydraulic solutions, including network modelling, flow assessments, flood risk evaluation, and hydraulic design calculations throughout the project lifecycle - from feasibility and concept design through to detailed design, construction, and commissioning.

Assist in the development of hydraulic design deliverables, including hydraulic calculations, network models, flow assessments, pipe sizing, drainage layouts, and system capacity evaluations.

  • Support the preparation and development of technical reports, feasibility studies, and design documentation for water and wastewater infrastructure.
  • Contribute to the design and assessment of water supply networks, wastewater systems, surface water drainage, flood risk solutions, and associated civil infrastructure.
  • Undertake hydraulic calculations and modelling activities using industry-standard software under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Support the preparation and review of design specifications, technical reports, and engineering drawings.
  • Assist in the interpretation and application of relevant design standards, industry guidance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise with internal multidisciplinary teams, clients, utilities, and external stakeholders to support coordinated project delivery.
  • Contribute to the preparation of cost estimates, risk assessments, optioneering studies, and change management activities.
  • Support site visits, surveys, and data collection activities to inform hydraulic design development.
  • Assist in the review and interrogation of survey data, asset information, and network performance data.
  • Work collaboratively with civil, mechanical, electrical, and environmental engineers to develop integrated infrastructure solutions.
  • Continuously develop technical knowledge in hydraulics, water engineering, and modelling tools through project experience and training activities.

Degree, HNC/HND, apprenticeship, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Experience in electrical engineering, whether gained through industry employment, placements, internships, apprenticeships, or academic projects.
  • Understanding of core hydraulic and civil engineering principles, including fluid mechanics, open channel flow, pipe network theory, drainage design, and flood risk concepts.
  • Ability to prepare or contribute to hydraulic calculations, technical reports, drawings, and engineering documentation.
  • Experience or familiarity with hydraulic modelling software (e. g. Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential due to site travel requirements).
  • Experience or interest in the water, wastewater, process, utilities, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic engineering principles, including drainage design, flood risk assessment, river systems, water supply networks, and wastewater systems.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams.
