As a Mechanical Engineer, you will contribute to the design and delivery of mechanical systems for water and wastewater treatment projects. Working closely with civil, EICA and process engineers, you will assist in developing effective, safe, and compliant mechanical designs while adhering to Business Management Systems (BMS) and COM regulations.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.
- 1 to 4 years experience in Mechanical engineering design, preferably within the water or wastewater industry.
- Proficiency in CAD software and other relevant engineering tools.
- Understanding of mechanical systems such as pumps, pipework, valves, rotating equipment, and associated materials.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks, such as COM regulations and the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Professional licensure or chartered status is desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the design of mechanical systems and equipment for clean and wastewater treatment and non-infrastructure assets.
- Produce and check mechanical design calculations, specifications, schedules, and drawings.
- Assist with equipment selection, data sheets, and technical evaluations.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams to ensure integrated design solutions.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, COM regulations and health and safety requirements.
- Support site activities, including inspections, commissioning, and fault investigations where required.
