About the Role
We're looking for a Data and Tech Manager to lead our Marketing data and tech strategy, manage the team's technical infrastructure, and ensure our systems deliver maximum value.
Alongside driving data quality and digital transformation, you'll play a role in supporting our adoption of AI technologies, ensuring our data, systems and processes are optimised to enable automation, insight generation and more efficient ways of working.
You will oversee the Marketing digital platforms and websites, ensuring they deliver an excellent user experience, support business objectives, and integrate effectively with our wider technology ecosystem.
Working with the Marketing team and wider business, you'll help maximise the value of our 360 customer data strategy, enabling smarter audience engagement, supporting the effective implementation of AI-powered tools and workflows, and driving continuous digital innovation.
You'll also provide support on data governance, compliance and best practice across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership & Strategy
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for Marketing digital tools and systems
- Stay current with developments in AI, data management, digital platforms, and regulatory requirements
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through better use of AI, data and technology and advise on best practices for the Marketing team
- Data Leadership
- Lead on all aspects of data management, strategy, and governance across Marketing
- Design, maintain, and optimise Marketing databases and data collection systems
- Manage data quality projects including cleansing, validation, deduplication, and standardisation
- Develop and implement data validation rules and quality control processes
- Conduct regular data audits to identify and resolve integrity issues
- Oversee data migration projects and system integrations
- Perform frequent and ongoing data cleansing, mapping, and standardisation to ensure consistency, accuracy, and usability across systems
- Collaborate with the Marketing Automation team to analyse contact activity and behavioural data, informing the development and future optimisation of lead scoring models
- Build and maintain automated reporting tools, dashboards, and analytics solutions
- Produce insights and analysis to inform strategic decision-making
- Establish data documentation standards and maintain data dictionaries
- Digital and Website Management
- Manage and maintain our Marketing Wordpress websites, ensuring optimal performance, security, and user experience
- Oversee website updates, content management systems, and third-party integrations
- Monitor site analytics and implement improvements based on user behaviour and business needs
- Work with external developers and agencies where required
- Evaluate and implement new digital tools and technologies
- Lead Marketing digital projects from scoping through to delivery
- Manage relationships with technical vendors and service providers
- Compliance Support
- Provide technical support to our Data Protection Officer on GDPR and UK data protection compliance
- Implement and maintain data protection measures across all Marketing digital systems
- Conduct data protection impact assessments for new systems and projects
- Support the management of data subject access requests and right to erasure requests
- Maintain records of processing activities and document data flows
- Monitor and report on compliance risks and issues
About You
Essential
- Proven experience leading data management projects, including data cleansing, validation, governance and quality improvement initiatives.
- Strong technical skills in database management, data analysis and reporting.
- Good understanding of AI technologies, including prompt engineering and workflow automation, with the ability to identify and implement practical business applications.
- Experience supporting data-led marketing, CRM and customer insight initiatives, including the application of AI and automation to improve business outcomes.
- Experience managing websites and digital platforms (CMS experience required).
- Solid understanding of GDPR and UK data protection legislation.
- Ability to design and implement data validation, quality control and governance processes.
- Experience with data analytics, visualisation and web analytics tools (e. g. Google Analytics).
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and deliver digital transformation initiatives.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases
- Experience with Python, R, or other data analysis tools
- Familiarity with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes
- Experience with data governance frameworks
- Background in CRM systems or marketing automation platforms
- IAPP certification (CIPP/E or CIPM) or similar data protection qualification
