ROLE OVERVIEW
As Interim Financial Controller, you will be responsible for all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, as well as development of internal control and financial risk management policies. You will report to the Financial Director and line manage a finance team of three.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the preparation of all monthly financial reporting.
- Lead the annual financial reporting for the company including leading the external audit and the completion of annual tax returns.
- Assist the executive team in implementing solutions, controls, and action plans to support the commercial and operational functions of the business.
- Oversee the financial management processes of the company including accounts payable, accounts receivable and treasury.
- Development and improvement of accounting processes in order to increase efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting function.
- Responsible for recruitment, training, and development of the finance team.
- Ensure the Finance team is familiar with the Finance policies and that all policies are implemented and followed.
- Oversee the treasury function with regard to cash planning and review the cash position on a weekly basis in order to optimize the use of funds.
- Ensure all taxes are paid and that all related reports are filed on a timely basis.
- Review changes of tax laws and accounting policies, assess implications on the business and ensure the team implements appropriate changes.
- Ensure effective communication between the finance team and other departments to promote improved working processes and efficiencies.
SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES
- Experienced in a Financial Controller role.
- Events or Travel Industry experience is desirable.
- Extensive experience of working across all financial accounting areas of a business.
- Skilled in accounting principles, procedures, financial statements, and ledgers including month and year end close procedures.
- Experience of implementing system and process improvements.
- ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified.
- Proficient in using accounting software.
- Experience effectively managing a small team and leading by example.
- Driven, positive and proactive attitude.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to anticipate needs, prioritize and work to tight deadlines.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
