We are seeking an experienced Smoke Ventilation Designer / Surveyor to join our growing team. This role is suited to a highly skilled, time-served professional with strong technical expertise and a thorough understanding of current regulations, standards, and best practice within the smoke control industry. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, assessment, and delivery of compliant smoke ventilation and smoke control solutions across a wide range of projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, assess, and deliver smoke ventilation and smoke control systems.
- Undertake detailed site surveys and inspections.
- Produce clear, accurate technical reports and documentation.
- Ensure all designs and installations comply with relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and industry standards.
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams, contractors, and clients to deliver high-quality, compliant solutions.
- Provide technical guidance and support throughout the full project lifecycle.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in smoke ventilation design and/or surveying.
- Strong working knowledge of relevant standards - BS 7346, BS 9999, BS 9991, BS EN 12101, BS ISO 21927 and other applicable regulations, standards, and codes of practice.
- Sound understanding of Construction Products Regulations, sector manufacturers, and the application of approved products and systems.
- Proven experience delivering compliant, practical smoke control solutions.
- Relevant technical qualification(s) in engineering, fire safety, or a related discipline.
Desirable:
- Background in fire engineering and/or mechanical engineering.
- Ability to assess drawings and schematics.
- Experience preparing or reviewing cause and effect documentation.

- Ability to operate effectively under pressure to rapidly changing circumstances.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality technical reports.
- Be well organised and have self-discipline.

Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 dependant on skills, experience, and qualifications.
