Overview:
We are looking for a Commissioning Engineer to install and commission smoke control systems across a range of buildings. You will lead on AOV, smoke damper, and ventilation system commissioning, ensuring all work meets design specifications and safety regulations. You will also supervise an Engineer or Apprentice, maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the installation of electrical systems for smoke control solutions, including wiring, power distribution, and integration with BMS and fire alarm systems.
- Commission AOV systems, smoke dampers, and ventilation systems, ensuring all components are tested, balanced, and fully operational in line with design and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure the correct selection and specification of electrical components, including fans, dampers, actuators, control panels, and emergency power supplies.
- Produce, review, and verify electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Collaborate with project teams, contractors, and consultants to ensure seamless integration of smoke control systems within the overall building infrastructure and to define project requirements.
- Manage project schedules and deliver high-quality installations in a cost-effective and efficient manner.
- Supervise, train, and mentor Apprentice as and when required, leading by example.
Experience and Qualifications:
Essential:
- Level 3 Electrical Qualification
- 18th Edition (BS 7671)
- ECS / CSCS Card
- Knowledge of safe isolation and electrical safety regulations
- Excellent IT skills, including MS Office 365 and SharePoint
- Full Driving Licence
- Flexibility to travel and work away essential (accommodation provided)
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including early starts or late finishes, to meet project demands
Desirable:
- IPAF / PASMA
- Experience installing and wiring with smoke control systems and fire alarm integration
- Commissioning and fault-finding experience
Skills and Attributes:
- Strong leadership and mentoring ability
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting capabilities
- Ability to read technical drawings and manage projects through to completion
- Proactive, positive, and self-motivated
