We are currently seeking a skilled Shift Technician to join a site-based engineering team at a high-profile commercial building in Central London. This role involves the maintenance, repair, and monitoring of building Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) systems, ensuring smooth and safe operation of all plant and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across building M&E systems
  • Electrical works
  • Monitor and operate BMS systems, including adjusting setpoints and identifying faults
  • Perform mechanical and plumbing repairs
  • Maintain and repair plant equipment including AHUs and FCUs
  • Replace and maintain motors, pumps, and inverter drives
  • Carry out water treatment tasks (sampling and dosing)
  • Assist with sprinkler testing and fire alarm awareness
  • Conduct minor fabric maintenance and general site upkeep
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and system schematics
  • Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental procedures at all times

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience in M&E maintenance within commercial buildings
  • Strong electrical competency (testing, fault finding, installation)
  • Good mechanical and plumbing knowledge
  • Familiarity with BMS systems and plant equipment
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings
  • Basic IT skills (Microsoft Office, mobile devices, tablets)
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Excellent timekeeping and reliability
  • Ability to work independently on day and night shifts

Working Hours & Pattern

  • Continental shift pattern: 3 days on / 3 nights on / 5 days off / 3 nights on / 4 days off
  • Day shift: 07:00 - 19:00
  • Night shift: 19:00 - 07:00
  • Must be flexible to work weekends and bank holidays as part of the rota
