Temp to perm role - offering an hourly rate matching the offered salary.

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Account / Operations Director to lead the delivery of a prestigious static-site Facilities Management contract. The successful candidate will hold full responsibility for operational performance, client relationships, financial management, compliance, and the ongoing development of engineering and support teams. The role requires a commercially minded leader with a strong background in Hard FM and engineering services who can drive service excellence, ensure contractual compliance, and identify opportunities for innovation and growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Relationship Management
    • Act as the senior point of contact for the client.
    • Build and maintain strong strategic relationships with key stakeholders.
    • Lead regular performance reviews and contract meetings.
    • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through proactive engagement and service delivery.
  • Operational Leadership
    • Take overall responsibility for the delivery of all Hard FM services across the site.
    • Lead Engineering Managers, Supervisors, and technical teams.
    • Drive a culture of safety, compliance, quality, and continuous improvement.
    • Ensure all planned, reactive, and project activities are delivered efficiently.
  • Financial Management
    • Hold full P&L responsibility for the contract.
    • Manage budgets, forecasts, and financial performance.
    • Drive profitability whilst maintaining exceptional service standards.
    • Identify and secure opportunities for additional works and contract growth.
  • Compliance & Risk Management
    • Ensure statutory compliance across all engineering services.
    • Maintain compliance with Health & Safety legislation and company policies.
    • Manage risk, incident investigations, audits, and corrective actions.
    • Ensure all subcontractors meet required performance and compliance standards.
  • People Leadership
    • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team.
    • Drive employee engagement and succession planning.
    • Support recruitment, retention, and development initiatives.
    • Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence.
  • Strategic Development
    • Develop and implement account strategies aligned to client objectives.
    • Drive innovation, sustainability, and energy efficiency initiatives.
    • Support mobilisation, transformation, and continuous improvement projects.
    • Contribute to wider business objectives and growth plans.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience in an Account Director, Operations Director, Senior Operations Manager, or equivalent leadership role within Facilities Management.
  • Strong background in Engineering Services / Hard FM.
  • Demonstrable experience managing large, technically complex contracts.
  • Experience managing significant P&L budgets.
  • Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Health & Safety and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Proven leadership and people management experience.

Desirable

  • HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services, or related discipline.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate.
  • IOSH Managing Safely.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (IWFM, IET, CIBSE, etc.).
