Role Overview

A skilled and experienced Commercial Gas Engineer is required to deliver planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, fault diagnosis, installation and compliance works across a portfolio of commercial buildings. The role involves working independently across multiple sites, maintaining key building services plant, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and providing a high standard of technical service to clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planned & Reactive Maintenance
  • Service, maintain and repair a full range of commercial gas systems including boilers, burners, warm air units, radiant tube heaters and associated gas pipework.
  • Diagnose system faults swiftly and complete repairs safely and efficiently.
  • Carry out plant room inspections and ensure operational reliability of all equipment.
  • Installation & Commissioning
    • Install and commission commercial gas equipment and mechanical building services plant.
    • Support pipework installation, plant room upgrades and wider mechanical tasks as required.
  • Compliance & Documentation
    • Conduct statutory gas safety checks, tightness testing, purging, flue checks and equipment inspections.
    • Ensure all work meets the requirements of Gas Safe regulations, British Standards and internal procedures.
    • Complete documentation such as service sheets, job reports and compliance records accurately and promptly.
  • Client Communication & Teamwork
    • Provide clear updates, technical feedback and professional advice to clients when required.
    • Work collaboratively with FM teams, building services engineers and other service partners.
    • Participate in the out-of-hours emergency callout rota when required.

    Required Qualifications

    Essential ACS Commercial Gas Certifications

    • COCN1 or CODNCO1 – Core Commercial Gas Safety
    • CIGA1 – Indirect Fired Heating Appliances
    • CORT1 – Direct Fired Heating Appliances
    • CDGA1 – Commercial Laundry Appliances (where applicable)
    • ICPN1 – Installation of Commercial Pipework
    • TPCP1 / TPCP1A – Testing & Purging (Commercial Systems)

    Desirable Additional Qualifications

    • CCN1 – Domestic Gas
    • MET1 – Gas Metering
    • NVQ Level 2/3 – Plumbing & Heating or Mechanical Engineering
    • FGas 2079
    • Commercial catering or laundry ACS modules
    • Unvented Hot Water (G3)
    • First Aid at Work
    • IPAF / PASMA
