Purpose of the Role

As the CAD Operator, you will be an integral part of the service delivery team, working closely with site management and client stakeholders to maintain the integrity and accuracy of all building records, technical drawings and asset information.

You will take ownership of record documentation, ensuring all drawings and maintenance records remain current as assets are upgraded, replaced or repaired within a large, complex commercial environment. (CAD Operator JD | Word)

You will act as the primary point of contact for CAD-related requirements, maintaining accurate as-built drawings, building layouts and asset information, whilst supporting operational teams, project delivery and facilities management activities. (CAD Operator JD | Word)

Key Responsibilities

  • CAD & Drawing Management
  • Create, update and maintain high-quality technical drawings and plans using CAD software.
  • Maintain an accurate and coordinated set of as-built base plans.
  • Produce drawings, layouts, elevations and technical documentation to support operational and project requirements.
  • Manage drawing revisions and robust version control procedures.
  • Maintain and organise the electronic library of all venue and estate CAD drawings.
  • Conduct site surveys and collect data to support drawing updates and amendments.
  • Liaise with internal departments to understand design requirements and provide technical support.
  • Asset & Document Management
  • Maintain accurate records of building assets, warranties, technical documentation and operational manuals.
  • Update asset registers and associated records following maintenance activities, refurbishments and capital projects.
  • Ensure operation and maintenance manuals reflect current asset locations and configurations.
  • Manage document control processes, including the retrieval, review and upload of technical information.
  • Ensure all records are accurate, auditable and readily accessible.
  • Facilities & Operational Support
  • Support engineering and operational teams with accurate building information and technical documentation.
  • Work closely with Facilities Management, Engineering and Projects teams to support ongoing asset management activities.
  • Assist in maintaining CAFM and document management systems.
  • Support planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programmes through accurate asset and drawing information.
  • Develop drawing standards and management procedures to support operational excellence.
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Review existing documentation and identify opportunities to improve data quality and accuracy.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of operational processes and procedures.
  • Support system training and user adoption across operational teams.
  • Develop positive working relationships with client representatives and stakeholders.
  • Promote continuous service improvement and innovation.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Minimum five years' experience in a CAD Operator, CAD Technician or similar role.
  • Advanced proficiency in Auto CAD and related CAD software.
  • Experience producing and maintaining technical drawings within commercial buildings, facilities management or building services environments.
  • Strong understanding of document control and version management processes.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.

Desirable

  • Experience working within Facilities Management or Building Services environments.
  • Knowledge of CAFM systems and asset management platforms.
  • Experience maintaining operation and maintenance manuals.
  • Familiarity with document management systems.
  • Working knowledge of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health) systems.
