Working Hours: 8:00am–5:00pm, Monday to Friday. Flexibility required to meet the needs of the role.

Department Overview: This role supports planned and reactive building maintenance operations, ensuring that plant, equipment, and safety systems operate effectively across the sites within the portfolio.
Job Purpose: Working within the building maintenance team, the engineer will manage all day-to-day activities, including Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, and emergency works in line with contract requirements.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Conduct a daily Building Management System (BMS) review and walk-around of major plant and equipment, reporting any major faults within the first hour of the shift.
- Maintain Water Treatment Logbooks and ensure compliance with testing regimes.
- Carry out weekly fire alarm testing and record all results.
- Perform monthly emergency lighting tests and document findings.
- Log utility meter readings at agreed intervals.
- Complete PPM tasks through the mobile system (Concept/MRI Go) in real time.
- Maintain engineering standards and accurate documentation.
- Respond promptly to reactive maintenance and Helpdesk requests.
- Coordinate with specialist subcontractors and issue permits to work.
- Participate in the on-call rota (one week every two weeks).
- Wear uniform and PPE at all times while on site.
- Comply with the Lone Worker Policy.
- Assist colleagues and other trades as required.
- Submit accurate timesheets and follow procedures for holidays and absence reporting.
- Complete return-to-work interviews following unplanned absence.
- Perform additional reasonable duties as required.
Knowledge & Skills:
Essential:
- IT literacy (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Leadership and managerial capability
- Ability to make informed decisions
- Understanding of PPM systems (e.g., Concept/MRI)
Experience:
Essential:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage conflict
- Experience with computerised PPM systems
- Experience in Building Services PPM schedules
- Competent working knowledge of: HVAC systems, Water hygiene systems, BMS, Electrical systems, Basic plumbing skills
