We are looking for a commercially driven Transport Manager to oversee daily transport operations while supporting a sales-focused, customer-first delivery service. This role is ideal for someone who understands that efficient logistics directly impacts customer satisfaction, repeat business, and revenue growth. This role would be suitable for someone working as a transport co-ordinator or supervisor looking to step up into a managerial role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and allocate deliveries by area, weight, volume, and time constraints to maximise efficiency and profitability
  • Select the most cost-effective vehicles and delivery methods, including pallet carriers and parcel services
  • Liaise with drivers regarding routes, workloads, and flexible start/finish times
  • Work closely with yard and warehouse teams to ensure smooth next-day deliveries
  • Proactively resolve delivery issues and ensure customers are informed and satisfied
  • Support the wider commercial team by ensuring deliveries meet agreed customer expectations and service levels
Compliance & Fleet Management:
  • Ensure all vehicles (over 3.5T) meet legal requirements, including PMI inspections, MOTs, tachograph calibration, and defect reporting
  • Manage servicing, repairs, fuel supply, and contractor invoicing
  • Oversee forklift, crane, and Moffett servicing, including LOLER and safety inspections
  • Maintain accurate transport records and ensure DVSA compliance
  • Monitor driver licenses, CPC requirements, and tachograph data
  • Keep drivers updated on legislation, company policy, and best practice
