A well-established civil engineering contractor in Hampshire is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of infrastructure and environmental projects. The company is known for delivering complex coastal, flood defence and civils schemes, with a strong focus on safety, collaboration and long-term client relationships.
Responsibilities
- Update and manage the contract programme weekly with the project planner, integrating subcontractor activities and highlighting delays or potential claims.
- Plan upcoming works, procure subcontractors and place orders for long-lead materials.
- Chair weekly site meetings to ensure the team understands priorities, deadlines and opportunities for improvement.
- Monitor financial performance, identify commercial risks and support solutions to maximise profitability.
- Raise Early Warnings and participate in risk reduction meetings.
- Support the commercial team with compensation events and change management.
- Work with the site engineer to resolve technical queries and design issues promptly.
- Produce key project documentation including CPPs, Waste Management Plans, and contributions to Materials Management Plans, method statements and risk assessments.
- Ensure compliance with environmental mitigation measures and controls.
- Compile information for the Health & Safety file.
- Ensure adherence to company procedures and timely submission of plant and material returns.
- Recruit local labour resources as required.
- Lead, manage and delegate responsibilities across the project team.
- Share knowledge, support training and promote effective collaboration across Commercial, Finance, Plant, Procurement, Technical and Estimating teams.
- Monitor team morale, communicate company objectives and maintain open, honest communication.
- Hold regular 1-2-1s to agree objectives, development needs and performance goals.
- Provide accurate information for monthly reporting.
- Build trusted client relationships and identify opportunities for future work.
