A well-established civil engineering contractor in Hampshire is seeking an experienced Site Manager to lead day-to-day operations across a range of infrastructure and environmental projects. The company delivers coastal, flood defence and civils schemes with a strong focus on safety, quality and collaborative working.
Role
You will be responsible for the safe, efficient and compliant running of the site, ensuring work is delivered to programme, quality standards and budget. Working closely with Project and Contracts Managers, you will lead site teams, manage subcontractors and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and local communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and maintain a safe, clean and well-organised site environment.
- Ensure full compliance with HSE legislation, site rules and company procedures.
- Develop and update Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality Plans, Waste Management Plans and Materials Management documentation.
- Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks and promote a strong safety and environmental culture.
- Identify training needs and support the development of site operatives.
- Produce method statements, risk assessments and weekly HSE inspections.
- Prepare lift plans (if qualified) and manage incident reporting, security and waste arrangements.
- Ensure compliance with licences, permits and environmental mitigation measures.
- Manage plant and material requisitions, returns and long-lead procurement.
- Review drawings, specifications and support subcontract procurement processes.
- Review subcontract RAMS, temporary works and attend appraisal interviews.
- Manage contractual paperwork including variations, Early Warnings, CTQs and PMIs.
- Coordinate subcontractor design and complete Temporary Works Design Briefs.
- Produce Inspection & Test Plans, snagging lists and manage client handover.
- Update the contract programme weekly with the planner and integrate subcontractor activities.
- Lead daily/weekly briefings, ensuring clear communication of priorities and lessons learned.
- Maintain accurate site records and complete project close-out documentation.
- Support commercial processes including valuations, forecasts and variation identification.
- Review and authorise timesheets, sickness forms, holidays and labour requirements.
- Engage with residents, landowners and utility providers to coordinate works.
- Lead, motivate and develop the site team, promoting openness, collaboration and high performance.
- Manage performance standards, expectations, grievances, disciplinary matters and recognition.
