About the Role:
The Northern Health and Social Care Trust is seeking a reliable and compassionate Driver with Caring Duties to provide safe and efficient transportation services within our community sector. This role involves conveying clients, including the elderly and individuals with physical, sensory, or mental health needs, to Adult/Day Care facilities, educational classes, outings, and other Trust-related appointments.
Key Responsibilities:
Driving & Transport Duties:
Transport clients/patients safely, including those with mobility aids or in wheelchairs, ensuring proper use of restraint devices.
Maintain vehicles daily, including fuel, oil, water levels, tyre pressures, and minor repairs.
Operate tail lifts on vehicles (training provided).
Complete vehicle records including mileage, fuel, oil, and passenger details.
Portering Duties:
Load and unload vehicles safely.
Deliver food supplies, equipment, and other materials to departments as required.
Caring Responsibilities:
Assist clients with boarding/alighting vehicles, mobility aids, or personal needs during transport.
Provide minor first aid if necessary (no certification required).
Support day facility staff during functions, meal times, and outings.
Assist in evacuation situations and provide transport backup to ambulance services if required.
General Responsibilities:
Provide courteous, respectful, and safe service to all clients.
Adhere to infection prevention, health and safety, and Trust policies.
Comply with the HPSS Code of Conduct and promote equal opportunities.
Maintain accurate records in line with legal requirements and Trust procedures.
Requirements:
Full, valid driving license.
Commitment to delivering high-quality care and service.
Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
