Total Care Recruitment are hiring for passionate and resilient Residential Child Care Workers to join the Childrens Disability team.
About the Role
Youll be working in a 24-hour regulated residential care environment supporting children and young people with learning disabilities and behaviours of concern. Youll help to provide a safe, structured, and compassionate home environment while supporting care planning, behavioural interventions, and daily activities all aimed at improving the young peoples quality of life.
Responsibilities include:
- Co-leading shifts and overseeing daily operations
- Assisting with personal care, meal preparation, medication management, and outings
- Supporting therapeutic plans and behaviour strategies
- Liaising with families and multidisciplinary teams
- Leading fun, purposeful activities to promote wellbeing and life skills
- Completing records, reports, and assessments
- Being a strong role model and advocate for young people
What You Need:
Essential Criteria:
- A relevant degree/professional qualification (social work, nursing, teaching, therapy etc.), OR Level 3 in Childrens/Health & Social Care + 2 years experience, OR 5 GCSEs (AC) including English + 3 years relevant experience
- Eligible for NISCC registration (or currently registered)
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to drive Trust vehicles*
- IT skills familiarity with Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
- Willingness to work on a 24/7 rota, including evenings, weekends, sleep-ins, bank holidays
*Requirement may be waived for individuals with a disability, if suitable transport arrangements can be made.
Ideal Candidate Will Also:
- Be emotionally resilient and calm under pressure
- Be a team player with strong communication skills
- Understand that all behaviour is a form of communication
- Have a working knowledge of Childrens Homes Regulations & Minimum Standards
- Be able to take initiative and lead as shift coordinator
