Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Registered Nurse to work at Ward Manager level, or in an equivalent senior clinical leadership role. The successful candidate will provide strong clinical leadership, ensure high standards of patient care, and support the effective day-to-day management of the ward.

Key Responsibilities

Provide visible and effective clinical leadership to the nursing and multidisciplinary team.

Take responsibility for the day-to-day management and operational running of the ward.

Ensure safe, high-quality, patient-centred care is consistently delivered.

Lead and support nursing staff, including supervision, performance management, and professional development.

Manage staffing levels, skill mix, rotas, and workload to maintain safe patient care.

Monitor and maintain compliance with relevant NHS policies, clinical standards, and governance requirements.

Support the implementation of service developments and contribute to continuous improvement.

Manage challenging situations effectively, including complex patient, staff, and operational issues.

Ensure accurate clinical documentation and appropriate handover of patient information.

Act as a senior point of contact for patients, relatives, and staff when required.

Essential Requirements

Current NMC registration as a Registered Nurse.

Significant post-registration clinical experience.

Recent experience operating at Ward Manager level or in an equivalent senior clinical leadership role.

Demonstrable experience managing complex clinical and operational situations.

Desirable

Previous NHS or acute hospital experience.

Relevant leadership or management qualification.

Experience with quality improvement, audits, and service development.

Experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
