We are recruiting confidentially for a Speech and Language Therapist to join a complex care service based in Grimsby, Lincolnshire. The service supports individuals with a wide range of complex sensory, communication, and developmental needs, including some people with dysphagia where there is a significant risk of choking. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while continuing to develop specialist clinical skills.
You will lead group-based therapeutic sessions and deliver individual interventions to support the development of speech, language, communication, and safe swallowing. You will build strong one-to-one therapeutic relationships, encourage engagement, and empower individuals to achieve improved outcomes and greater independence. You will manage a designated caseload, completing specialist assessments, planning and implementing interventions, and evaluating outcomes in line with individual care plans.
You will work as part of a highly collaborative multidisciplinary team and receive support from a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant and a Regional Lead Speech and Language Therapist. You will also provide clinical supervision to junior staff and contribute to the ongoing development and effectiveness of the service. As an autonomous practitioner, you will be responsible for your own clinical decision-making while working within agreed guidelines, policies, and regulatory standards.
The role includes delivering high-quality speech and language therapy assessments and interventions, providing specialist dysphagia assessment and management where required, contributing to service development and quality improvement initiatives, and supporting multidisciplinary care planning to ensure outcomes remain person-centred and effective. You will promote safeguarding and wellbeing, maintain accurate and confidential records, and provide professional advice and consultation to colleagues involved in service users' care.
To be considered, you must have completed a recognised Speech and Language Therapy qualification and be registered with the HCPC, as well as being a member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists. You will have at least two years' experience working as a Speech and Language Therapist and experience supporting people with complex needs relevant to learning disabilities and autism. Experience supervising or supporting junior staff or students is essential, along with strong written communication skills and a clear commitment to ongoing professional development.
The role offers an annual salary of £40,000, along with 33 days annual leave including bank holidays plus your birthday off. Additional benefits include career development and training opportunities, wellbeing support, access to a wide range of discounts and rewards, life assurance, pension contribution, 24/7 GP access and second medical opinion services, enhanced maternity benefits, financial wellbeing support, and free or subsidised meals with onsite or local parking.
If you are looking for a confidential opportunity where you can progress your career while making a real difference within learning disability and autism services, I would welcome a confidential discussion. Please reply to this email or contact me directly to find out more.
