Toshiba Europe Limited has pioneered the development of quantum communication systems over the past decade, setting new standards for cryptography and data security. We are currently seeking a Head of Engineering to join the growing team developing products within Toshiba’s Quantum Technology Division, based in Cambridge, UK. The successful candidate will lead our engineering team developing novel high-speed communication products based on quantum technology.
You will have experience of managing all stages of the development of novel electronic products and demonstrated success in delivering complex projects and managing teams of electronic engineers. You will have an intimate knowledge of high-speed circuit design, incorporating FPGA and microcontrollers and have the technical knowledge to lead and mentor a team of electronic engineers.
You will join a dynamic organisation, working within a team of engineers and researchers, with the ability to make a significant impact and playing a major role in the development of next-generation secure communication products.
Responsibilities:- Elaborating the product roadmap in collaboration with the business development teams and senior management.
- Directing the technical activities of the electronic engineering team.
- Detailed planning and budgeting of all stages of the product development process.
- Managing the timely delivery of projects according to specifications and budgets.
- Leading and mentoring a team of electronic engineers on a day-to-day basis.
- Maintaining and improving the quality of product development activities.
- Degree level qualification in Electronic Engineering or equivalent subject.
- Deep knowledge of RF and mixed signal electronic circuit design.
- Demonstrated success in managing the development of novel products from concept through to market release.
- Experience of applying standard methodologies for product development.
- Experience of leading a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating excellent communication skills and time management to successfully drive projects.
- Proven experience of multi-tasking to support a variety of business needs.
- Demonstrable skills in successfully managing workloads to meet tight deadlines.
- Software engineering experience in C/C++.
- Familiarity with the Altium Designer CAD tool.
- Proven success in circuit design with FPGA.
- Experience with hardware description languages such as Verilog and/or VHDL.
- Good familiarity with Linux.
- Engineering experience in the communications industry with design responsibilities.
- Experience in designing electronic systems to meet electromagnetic compatibility compliance requirements.
