We are looking for a skilled and customer-focused Joiner to join HMS, part of Torus Group. You will play a key role in delivering a high-quality, efficient and responsive service to our customers, working across occupied and void properties. You will carry out a wide range of joinery works and associated multi-skilled tasks, contributing to our one job, one visit approach while maintaining the highest standards of workmanship, safety and customer care.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Carry out all aspects of internal and external joinery, including plastic and composite products, maintenance and remedial works.
  • Undertake associated trade tasks (e.g. basic plastering, tiling and plumbing) to support efficient service delivery.
  • Plan and organise work effectively to meet priority response times and performance targets.
  • Work within scheduled appointment systems, liaising directly with customers and colleagues.
  • Diagnose faults, carry out pre-measuring and determine repair requirements in line with contractual guidelines.
  • Supervise and support apprentices or trainees when required.
  • Use IT and mobile devices to receive instructions, complete work orders and order materials.
  • Ensure accurate completion of all documentation and system updates.
  • Drive and maintain a company vehicle, stock and equipment responsibly.
  • Manage materials efficiently, minimising waste and delays.
  • Comply fully with Health & Safety requirements and safe systems of work.
  • Participate in training, development and competency programmes.
  • Work collaboratively with schedulers, planners, customer liaison officers and contractors.
  • Take part in an out-of-hours rota when required (additional payment applies).

What We’re Looking For:

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Joinery or relevant craft discipline.
  • CSCS card at the appropriate level.
  • Experience in multi-skilled trade activities.
  • Full UK or EU driving licence.
  • Completed apprenticeship (time served).
  • Proven experience in joinery, building maintenance and construction.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Good communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
  • Experience supervising or supporting apprentices.

Interview Process:

Candidates will be invited to in-person interviews at our Stonebridge office, which will include a competency-based interview.

Additional Information:

Each successful applicant will be required to complete the following pre-employment checks prior to a start date being agreed:

  • Qualification certificate check.
  • 2x Completed references.
  • OH Health Questionnaire - Fit For Work.
  • DBS check (if required for role).
  • Completion of all new starter documentation including signed T&Cs.
