Do you have strong communication skills, a passion for engaging people through change, and the ability to create clear, impactful content across multiple channels? We’re looking for a Communications Officer to join our team and play a key role in supporting major transformation and neighbourhood projects across the Group. This is a fantastic opportunity to work at the heart of change, helping colleagues, customers and communities understand what’s happening, why it matters, and how they are supported throughout.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead and deliver communications and engagement activity across key change programmes, including a major Transformation Programme and neighbourhood pilot projects.
  • Develop and implement clear, structured communications plans aligned to project milestones and organisational priorities.
  • Act as a trusted communications advisor to project teams, shaping messaging to support understanding, engagement and adoption of change.
  • Translate complex or technical information into clear, accessible and engaging content for a range of audiences, particularly customer-facing teams.
  • Create high-quality content across internal and external channels, including intranet, newsletters, website, social media, briefings and campaigns.
  • Use insight, feedback and data to evaluate the effectiveness of communications and continuously improve approach and impact.
  • Support neighbourhood and place-based communications, bringing projects to life through storytelling, engagement and evidence of impact.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to support effective communication and engagement.
  • Support reputational activity, including media, PR and stakeholder engagement where required.
  • Ensure all communications are inclusive, accessible, aligned with brand guidelines and compliant with relevant policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and update digital content, including SharePoint pages, Teams sites, social media platforms and websites, ensuring information is accurate and up to date.
  • Work flexibly across locations, with a base in Liverpool and travel to other sites as required.
  • Use a range of digital platforms and tools to deliver effective communications, including: Microsoft Office 365 (including SharePoint, Teams and Viva Engage), Content management systems to manage intranet and website content, Mailchimp (or similar) for internal and external communications distribution and Hootsuite (or similar) to manage and monitor social media channels.

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience working in a communications and engagement role within a complex, customer-focused environment.
  • Proven ability to deliver communications to support change, transformation or service improvement.
  • Strong writing and content creation skills, with the ability to tailor messages for different audiences.
  • Experience using a range of digital communication tools and platforms, such as Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, Viva Engage, Mailchimp, Hootsuite and content management systems (or similar).
  • Ability to manage and update digital content, including intranet, websites and social media channels.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and influence stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyse feedback and data to improve communications and engagement outcomes.
  • A proactive, flexible approach, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and business needs.
  • An understanding of how change impacts people, with the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively.
