We're looking for a Graduate Asset Surveyor to join our Asset Investment and Commercial Team. This is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate, or someone at the early stages of their surveying career, to gain hands-on experience across a wide range of asset management activities, helping us maintain safe, sustainable and high-quality homes for our customers.

As a Graduate Asset Surveyor, you'll support the delivery of a professional and customer-focused asset management service, carrying out a variety of property surveys and inspections including stock condition, quality assurance, energy performance, HHSRS and asbestos validation surveys. Working alongside experienced surveyors and asset management professionals, you'll develop your technical expertise while contributing to investment programmes that make a real difference to our communities.

Working arrangements:

We work on an agile basis, with employees typically spending three days per week in the office. Our usual office locations are Liverpool on Mondays, Warrington on Tuesdays and St Helens on Wednesdays, although travel across our operational areas and various sites will be required in line with business needs.

What you'll be doing:

  • Carry out a range of asset management surveys, including stock condition, quality assurance, energy performance, HHSRS, asbestos re-inspection and void surveys.
  • Update and maintain accurate property and asset data, ensuring internal systems and records are kept up to date.
  • Support quality assurance inspections of capital investment and component replacement programmes.
  • Assess the condition of existing buildings, identifying defects and contributing to recommendations for repair or further action.
  • Assist in the delivery of Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) and other energy performance assessments.
  • Liaise with customers and stakeholders to arrange surveys, discuss requirements and provide technical advice where required.
  • Support the delivery of Decent Homes standards and investment programmes across our housing stock.
  • Develop your knowledge of construction methods, maintenance contracts, housing legislation and health and safety requirements.
  • Champion the effective use of asset and project management systems, maximising the benefits of mobile working technology.
  • Build strong relationships with colleagues, customers, contractors and external stakeholders to deliver a seamless service.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, value for money and innovation across the Asset Management service.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety policies, quality standards and relevant legislation at all times.
  • Take responsibility for your own professional development while positively contributing to a collaborative, high-performing team.

What we're looking for:

  • A degree qualification in Building Surveying, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.
  • A qualification relating to Domestic Energy Assessment would be advantageous.
  • An interest in asset management, property surveying and maintaining social housing assets.
  • Knowledge of construction methods, property maintenance and building defects.
  • An understanding of health and safety legislation relevant to property maintenance and construction.
  • Experience of carrying out, or an understanding of, stock condition, quality assurance, HHSRS or asbestos-related surveys would be advantageous.
  • Strong IT skills, with confidence using digital systems and mobile technology to capture and manage data.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers, colleagues and contractors.
  • A proactive approach with a commitment to delivering excellent customer service and continuous improvement.
  • The ability to manage your own workload, prioritise tasks and work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • A commitment to personal and professional development, with a willingness to learn and develop your surveying expertise.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use, with the ability to travel across our operating areas.

Interview process:

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an in-person, competency-based interview at our St Helens Central Office on Friday 6 November 2026. As part of the assessment process, you'll also complete a short exercise on the day, giving you the opportunity to demonstrate your skills and approach to the role.

Additional Information:

Each successful applicant will be required to complete the following pre-employment checks prior to a start date being agreed:

  • Right to work verification.
  • Qualification certificate check (where applicable).
  • Two satisfactory references.
  • Occupational Health questionnaire.
