We're looking for a

Development Surveyor to join our team at Torus Developments, supporting refurbishment and new build housing schemes across the North West.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality, sustainable homes, ensuring developments meet the highest standards of quality, compliance, health and safety, and customer satisfaction.

You'll work closely with Project Managers, Contractors, Consultants and internal stakeholders to carry out inspections, surveys and quality assurance activities across a diverse development programme, helping Torus deliver homes that make a lasting difference to communities throughout the region.

Working pattern

The role is primarily site-based across the North West, with monthly attendance at our Warrington office and occasional remote working as required.

What you'll be doing

  • Supporting Project Managers in the delivery of refurbishment and development schemes, with a focus on quality, cost, programme compliance and health and safety.
  • Undertaking inspections, surveys and quality assurance checks to ensure developments are delivered to the required standards.
  • Providing an effective and value for money surveying and inspection service across a range of projects.
  • Liaising with contractors, consultants and other project stakeholders to ensure compliance with agreed specifications, construction methods and quality standards.
  • Monitoring construction activities and identifying defects, ensuring issues are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Supporting property handover processes and helping to deliver excellent customer satisfaction outcomes.
  • Assisting with post-handover inspections and aftercare activities to ensure properties meet expected standards.
  • Acting as the Torus representative on site, reporting on quality and health and safety matters.
  • Completing monthly site health and safety inspections and preparing reports using the relevant management systems.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, building regulations, health and safety requirements, Modern Methods of Construction and low carbon technologies.
  • Contributing to risk management, business continuity and value for money initiatives across the Development Team.

What we're looking for

  • An appropriate professional qualification demonstrating strong technical knowledge of refurbishment, investment and development schemes, gained through relevant construction industry experience.
  • Membership of, or working towards membership of, the Institute of Clerks of Works and Construction Inspectorate (ICWCI), with a commitment to continuous professional development and maintaining industry best practice standards.
  • Degree-level education or equivalent relevant training and experience.
  • A minimum of three years' relevant experience working on development and new build schemes.
  • Significant experience managing or overseeing technically challenging refurbishment, investment or development projects from inception through to completion.
  • Excellent knowledge of construction methods, construction legislation, construction contracts, building regulations and health and safety requirements.
  • Experience carrying out inspections, surveys and quality assurance activities within a construction environment.
  • A strong understanding of value for money principles and their application in day-to-day operations.
  • The ability to build effective working relationships and partnerships with colleagues, contractors, consultants and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills, with the confidence to influence and engage a wide range of audiences.
  • A proactive, resilient and self-motivated approach, with a commitment to continuous improvement and delivering high-quality outcomes.
  • Membership of, or willingness to work towards, ICWCI membership would be advantageous.
